DESIGN
A hilt designed to fit a long 'musketeer' epee, suitable for historical rapier fencing (HEMA).
Developed to lower the barrier of entry for people interested in trying Rapier, but who don't want to invest £250+ and wait months. These are generally ready to ship, being printed on demand and should cost around £100 once complete. Should you enjoy practising rapier, the hilt can be upgraded in the future.
Other benefits include being very light while retaining the same properties, around 20% lighter than with a metal hilt, great for people who find this system hard to train with for extended periods

There are generally two main types of 3D printing at home: FDM (filament) and SLA (Resin). We have tried and tested both extensively, including the novel and less common 'Engineering' materials for each. So far, we've found that resin printing provides better quality but is typically more brittle i.e. less impact resistant, versus filament.

Carbon fibre-reinforced nylon has superior impact and tensile strength compared to other FDM materials, but is more challenging to print successfully. It requires specialist equipment and more post-processing than other filaments.
PAHT-CF combines PA12 and carbon fiber, offering low water absorption with enhanced mechanical and thermal properties, performing well in wet conditions. Its superior layer adhesion and flexibility make it ideal for engineering parts.
