Forearm Guards aka Vambraces - armour for lighter HEMA / WMA practice (Historical European Martial Arts)
These were designed to be lighter and more flexible than existing options that I find to be bulky and restrictive. The guards can sit under or over a jacket and are suitable for a variety of sizes by adjusting the number of sections as needed, currently they fit a diameter of between 90-45mm with a total of 7 sections provided.
The guards wrap around the arm and a strap or cord can be added to hold them in place. The sections are angled outwards so strikes or thrusts are prevented from slipping under the plates. They could in theory be scaled to fit the upper arms or legs and I can provide STLs in additional sizes as required.
Printed in TPU, this material is tough but very flexible and bendy, meaning it can distribute impact force while not cracking. The overlapping segments and ribbing offer further rigidity while still allowing movement in all directions. The integral pivot means no additional fixings are required, but it could be drilled for Chicago screws if preferred.
